Space Combat

first time doing this, sorry.

Hi my name is ADDSynth.

And this is my entry for the OneLoneCoder Code Jam 2021.

for the theme "future" I decided to create a generic space shooter. I call it Space Combat, because I'm not very creative.

It was made with a very old software called Game Maker. it was released back around the 2008-2012 era. upon opening, Windows will most likely need to install DirectPlay.

I can't remember, but I think it also might get flagged by certain anti-virus software. These are false positives.

I was planning on making a game project with Game Maker anyway, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to get familiar with Game Maker again, and then I realized why I don't use Game Maker anymore. I use Unity now.

I was a day late entering in this code jam, and then after 2 days I scrapped what I was working on and started a new game. So I actually had like 7 or 6 days to make this.

If I had 1 or 2 more days I could've added music and play-tested it better. I wasn't able to test the later levels so they may be harder than intended.

Included is the .exe build, and the Game Maker file. If you have Game Maker or it's current form, Game Maker Studio (that may be able to open it, idk) you can explore the game data.

I'm probably not going to do this sort of thing ever again.

Original v1.0 is the one I submitted for the OLC Code Jam. It had bugs, and was more difficult because I didn't have enough time to fully test it. The 1.0 version is no longer available. Now on February 8, 2022, I'm uploaded an updated version, which plays a lot better.
